Dave Grohl: “If the song dedicated to your ass comes first, this is a clear problem”

After nearly thirty years of rock and roll, Dave Grohl is still playing real rock, making films and television shows, and trying, according to him, “not to seem like a boring old fart.” This exclusive interview proves: he succeeds.

Dave Grohl became famous throughout the world in the 1990s as the drummer of the Nirvana band, and has since remained a star. He soloists with Foo Fighters (eight albums, 11 million copies sold, many awards and spectacular world tours), and works on musical projects, including with David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age. Last year, he released his first film, “Sound City,” a documentary about a music studio of the same name in Los Angeles.

Now he has launched “Sonic Highways”: an ambitious project to merge the eighth album, released in November, Foo Fighters, with an eight-part television series. In it, Grohl shows how the group recorded the album in studios across America and talks with musicians associated with these studios, including Dolly Parton, Joe Walsh, Chuck D, Willy Nelson and Rick Rubin. He also has a little conversation with Barack Obama. In a recent conversation with The Red Bulletin, the 45-year-old musician does not ask questions, but answers them. Continue reading

The American band OK Go will present in Russia their new studio album “Hungry Ghosts”. The team will present it in Moscow (February 6) and St. Petersburg (February 7).
Based in Los Angeles, but continuing to consider themselves a Chicago group, OK Go started in the 1990s with sets opening for Sloan and Elliott Smith, eventually rising to perform at Barack Obama’s 50th birthday in the titled company Jennifer Hudson and Herbie Hancock .

On the eve of OK Go’s visit to Russia, BritishWave.ru talked with the bass player of the band Tim Nordwind, asking him about music, concerts, cinema and what he knows about Russia.

You had a short break in concert activity from November to February, how did you spend this time? Continue reading

Hello my little Mercury …

I have wanted to write to you for so long … I was looking for words and clumsily building expressions, secretly hoping that someday my letter will be published to you on adme.ru and dozens of readers will write “This is so inspiring!”. But then I realized that I really didn’t want this at all. I wanted you to forget what britishwave.ru, adme.ru and just “www” in any form are.

You are already changing the fourth headphones for this month and I don’t blame you at all. You get bored with your homemade “cool riffs” and “like these parties”. Yes, and night hangs in YouTube – this is also okay, even despite the fact that you do not go to school, because you sleep off. Would YouTube be in my youth – I would do that too. By the way, the next time you surf there, be sure to see how Hendrix fuses his guitar. The coolest video, Bellamy (well, the guy from Muse) after him took up the music, while Continue reading
